This past weekend the Niagara Ball Hockey Club hosted the Gateway to the Bauer World Outdoor Ball Hockey Championships. This warm up event let's Southern Ontario based teams come out and see how they stack up.... with a chance to win their entry to the WOBHC tournament. With this year being the 20th Anniversary the teams were exceptionally excited to start their #RoadToTheWOBHC
After three days of game's, championship Sunday saw a final match up between the Stoney Creek Savages (3rd seed from round robin) and the St. Catharines Punishers (4th seed from round robin).
The game was a back and forth affair featuring stellar goaltending and countless chances. After 3 periods of play the game was tied 2-2 forcing sudden death overtime. It was there that the Stoney Creek Savages were able to score and win gold, 3-2.
